Jun. 2nd, 2012 08:55 pmI've been reading up a lot on old Earth history and superstitions, and I noticed that a lot of cultures had notions that the world had edges, or if you strayed beyond a certain point there were monsters, or things like that. Which is interesting to me, because where I'm from, that's all true.
Not the world being flat, I mean, but the Dark Continent. The 'Outside'.
But I can't be the only one whose world has a place like that, right? Does that sound familiar to anyone?

Apr. 15th, 2012 11:50 pm[Hello there, Keep. Ready for a story? I hope so. The video feed clicks on to show Shal, surrounded by books. The library is the perfect place for story time, don't you think?]
When I was maybe five years old there was one girl, in her late teens I guess, and she'd always tell stories to the younger children.
What made them interesting was that she never told them like the old ladies did. The endings were always hopeful and romantic, and we always laughed at her when they ended with the hero winning love instead of food or money. But she didn't mind, and she kept telling them anyway, asserting that some day her prince would come along just like in the stories and take her away from Meteor City to live happily ever after.
We were really surprised, but eventually she got her chance. One day she left with her prince, and we never saw her again.
Or at least none of the others did, years later I stumbled across her mummified corpse in someone's collection of human statues.
So much for fairy tales, huh?

Mar. 21st, 2012 06:17 pmI have a few questions for anyone who's met people they know from their world here, if they're willing to answer them.
→ How many people from your world are or were here? How many have 'left'?
→ Did you arrive from the same point in your world's time?
→ If not, did the person who arrived from a later point in time remember the first person's disappearance? Or were they surprised to hear that the first person had ever disappeared at all?
→ Was this place, or anything about coming here ever mentioned by either of you to each other when you were in your original world?

Dec. 4th, 2011 09:00 pmNow that the handcuffs are done, I wonder if anyone would help me heal this?
[Shal holds up his hand for the camera, looking sheepish. It's swollen and discoloured and his fingers are at odd angles and whoops, guess who has two thumbs and can only point at himself using one? This guy.]
I broke it to slip out of the cuffs, but I guess they were stuck on with magic, huh? I was worried about something like that, that's why I was trying to get someone to test it, but... I got kind of impatient and ended up being my own guinea pig.
[Awkward laugh.]
I tried to set it, but I never was much good at that. It's already starting to heal wrong, I'll probably have to break it again to set it right...
A-ahaha, how embarrassing...

I don't think I like these handcuffs. It makes me feel like a criminal.
[Hah, that was a joke. He is a criminal.]
But at least I'm not attached to anyone like most of you are. When you hear stuff like this starting to happen, you should really stay in your rooms. Just a tip for next time. Given, it'll be hard for me to search for my key without getting locked to one of you.
[Hum.]
Has anyone tried breaking their hands and slipping out of their cuffs yet?

Nov. 1st, 2011 11:09 pmYou end up with a lot of free time when you're stuck here, don't you? I've been reading the old journal entries for entertainment mostly, but I'm starting to feel like a shut-in, so I thought I'd ask everyone a question to get to know you better.
From what I've read so far, I've noticed that lots of you have special talents and powers! I've never seen so many interesting people in one place, haha. But how do they work? [Since they don't run off Nen, apparently.] I'd love to know more about these things. I know I'm asking a lot, but if you'd be willing to tell me about what you can do, or even give me a demonstration, I'd really enjoy it.
So, take my mind off this boredom for a while, please?
[Look at that sweet face, beaming at the camera. You totally want to share all your secrets with Shal, right?]

Oct. 26th, 2011 08:24 pm[Click. Hello there, Holloways, someone's back from the dead, and judging by the smile it doesn't look like losing all his memories has affected his disposition all that much.]
Hi, I hope I'm not interrupting anything. Aha, this is going to sound strange, but...
[How to phrase this? Better just go for it.]
Could anyone tell me who I am? Or anything about me, really. Some of my memories have come back, but they're all about the properties of leeches and locations of hotels and weird things like that, and frankly they aren't too useful. Or maybe they are. It's hard to tell with no frame of reference. [Laugh.] If anyone could help me make sense of things, I would be really grateful.
Hmm, I read a few of the back entries, and it looks like my name should be signed automatically at the end of this, right? Well, here goes nothing!
[The feed cuts off, and lo-and-behold, it signs itself 'Shalnark'. A few moments later, there's a small addition in text:]
Shalnark? Haha, what an odd sounding name.

Oct. 23rd, 2011 04:45 pm[There's a new face in the Keep, but he isn't planning on staying around for long. He'll be heading over the wall and to his (unknowing) death shortly, but he has to find his way over there first, which without certain powers is proving somewhat harder than had thought.
So Shal is walking (he had been sneaking, but then he noticed that there were other people milling about and opted for blending in instead,) towards the outer walls (hopefully). He's so tense he can't completely hide it, his cellphone clenched in a deathgrip at his side--but hey, considering the circumstances, he's doing pretty well. Really, to any outside viewer he just looks like any other newbie who's been thrown into a medieval castle full of talking pumpkins.
Come talk to him, ask him who he is, or if he's found his pumpkin yet. He wont bite. Really.]
